Great site. Pedants of the world unite and take over, and all that.
I had an email the other day from someone saying he was going to "loose patients if things did not improove." It made me smile, for about a second, and then it made me want to walk down to his office with a copy of Eats, Shoots and Leaves, and a dictionary, and hit both of them off his head.
Separate is the one word I always get wrong. These days I just say divorce, it's easier on the spellcheck. (Which, ironically, red-underlines the word spellcheck but not the term red-underlines which I've quite clearly made up and self-hyphenated)
p.s.
Self-hyphenated escapes the red line treatment too. The unpunctuated ps doesn't, however.
Oh god, this is spiralling! Now unpunctuated has a red line! AS does spiralling!
